Muhammad Iqbal (d. 1938), thinker and philosopher – poet of Indo-Pakistan sub-continent, was one of the key architects of contemporary Islam. Through the medium of his thoughtful writing and soul-transforming poetry, both Urdu and Persian, he infused a new spirit in the Muslims, not only of India and Pakistan but also Iran, Afghanistan, Central Asia and the Middle East. He challenged the western concept of nationalism and expounded the concept of Islamic nations, on which the idea of Pakistan is based. A Treasury of Iqbal is a glimpse of his thought and contribution.

Through four beautiful narratives (the People of the Cave; the Man with Two Gardens; Mūsā and Khiḍr; and Dhū al-Qarnayn), this Surah not only summarizes the whole religion of Islam, but also teaches a number of important lessons. Beginning with the role and function of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, it goes on to highlight the need for Muslims to show genuine concern for humanity at large.
The importance of genuine knowledge, and the necessity to take it only from qualified teachers who have taqwā, is also highlighted – showing that the highest form of knowledge is that which is acquired through God-consciousness and utter submission to the will of Allah.
The Surah also indicates that believers must always strive against their egos and attribute nothing of the blessings and bounties they possess to their egos or knowhow. One must always remember that Allah is the Master of the whole universe and everything that happens in it is under His control, no matter how good, bad or difficult it might appear.

Living in Allah's Presence
Regular price Rs.1,000.00Publisher: Kube Publishing
Author: Abdur Rashid Siddiqui
Dimensions: 6.25 x 9.25

Living in Allah’s Presence: Aspects of Islamic Spirituality introduces the natural human characteristics (fiṯrah) that are universally considered to be praiseworthy. In the Qur’ān, Islam is referred to as al-dīn al-fiṯrah, meaning that the human being is, by his very nature, inclined to submit to the will of Allah, and is inclined towards goodness. These Qur’ānic concepts like sincerity, truthfulness, humility, morality, modesty and steadfastness underpin the Islamic value system. The reflections on these key concepts presented in this book guide the reader towards moral excellence and self-purification, which, if achieved, lead to the establishment of justice, living a life in Allah’s presence and building a true relationship with Him, striving to fulfill His will on earth and seeking His pleasure in the afterlife.
Abdur Rashid Siddiqui gained honours degree in economics and politics as well as a law degree from the University of Bombay. He completed his postgraduate study in librarianship from the University of London and was elected an associate of the Library Association. Genuine understanding of Islam, the religion, will reveal that Islam is a later moment of that very consciousness which produced Judaism and Christianity, that Islam, the culture, is as much a source of the Western civilization of the present millennium as classical Greece and Rome, that Islam’s anti-clericalism made it the first “Protestant” revolution, that its rationalism made it the first “Enlightenment”, that its pragmatism made it the first “technocracy”, and that its law of war and peace made it the first “United Nations”.
About the Author
Professor Ismail Raji al Faruqi, Palestinian-American philosopher, visionary, and an authority in comparative religion, was one of the foremost Muslim scholars of the 20th century. In this study he presents the meaning and message of Islam to the wider world community. Key elements of the faith are summarized and explained in an overall theme of seven parts consisting of 21 chapters. Yet the chapters represent far more than a simple description of Muslim peoples and orthodox practice. Al Faruqi was a great thinker, formidable in logic, and relished intellectual engagement on every level, particularly when it came to Islam and other faiths. And it is this unique reasoning process that is reflected in this work, al Faruqi signature contribution, which not only expounds on Islam as spiritual faith and action, but also on Islam the great experience.

Allāh called Sūrah Yūsuf the ‘Best of All Stories,’ which He revealed in the Qur’ān, the best of all Revelations, to the best of all prophets, our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The story was revealed to lift his spirits at a time when his sufferings and worries had mounted. This was a time when he had gone through at least a decade of ridicule and rejection in Makkah, a time when he lost his beloved wife and partner, Khadījah, a time when he had lost his dear uncle, Abū Ṭālib.
The Prophet Yūsuf lived thousands of years ago, but time has not diminished his story’s relevance. It is a tale of love, passion, betrayal, and forgiveness, and it has something to teach us, at every stage of our lives. It imparts Divine wisdom wrapped in unparalleled eloquence. It is a timeless story that will continue to soothe our souls during times of hardship and reignite our trust in our Lord.

Worship in Islam (Pakistan Edition)

Author: Syed Abul Ala Maudoodi
Dimensions: 6.25 x 9.25
Pages: 238
With a focus upon the social dimension of worship Maudoodi's original approach to religious ritual and self-purification considers worship's transformative role in social life, as well as on the spirit. This work offers an illuminating and unique study of the nature and significance of Islamic spirituality by a leading Muslim intellectual from the twentieth century.
Worship in Islam is an in-depth study of the nature and significance of Islamic spirituality by Syed Abul Ala Maudoodi, one of the leading Muslim intellectuals of the twentieth century, with special reference to the concepts of God’s Oneness (tawhid), the finality of Prophethood (risalah) and the Islamic system of worship (ibadah) and a focus upon prayer (salah) and fasting (ṣawm) and their role in the development of the Islamic personality and Islam’s social order. The distinguishing feature of Mawdūdī’s approach is his elaboration of the social dimension of worship, which extends the traditional approach found in Islamic jurisprudence, with its focus upon ritual and self-purification, to consider worship’s transformative role in social life. Presenting a holistic view of the Islamic system, Mawdūdī highlights Islam’s social, economic and political dimensions, which he argues have the capacity to resolve emergent issues and problems that humankind faces.
Edited and translated into accessible English by Ahmad Imam Shafaq Hashemi, this book is an authoritative compilation of a leading Islamic revivalist’s reflections upon the central matter of worship’s role in Islam. This historic text should be of wider interest to both students and specialists in contemporary Islamic thought, and includes an introduction by Professor Anis Ahmad.

Contemporary Approaches to The Quran and Sunnah
Regular price Rs.1,200.00Publisher: The International Institute of Islamic Thought

Pages: 244
THE QUR’AN AND SUNNAH are the two primary sources of Muslim faith, life, law and morality. The Qur’an is for Muslims the foundation of their faith and the Sunnah is the framework of their morality. Together they constitute the two sources of the law (ShariꜤah) of God, a guide to prosperity and happiness in this life and to the bliss of the hereafter. Although the Qur’an and Sunnah are materially and formally two independent sources, they are inextricably bound in a dynamic relationship. The rulings and precepts (ahkam) of the Qur’an constitute the law (sharꜤ) of God. They are supplemented by the precepts of the authentic Sunnah, which possess authority second only to the precepts of the Qur’an. The Qur’an commands Muslims, “Whatever the Messenger gives you, that you must take, and whatever he forbids you, you must desist therefrom…” (59:7)
In answer to this need, IIIT convened an annual Summer School for scholars to study the Qur’an and Sunnah. The eleven papers included in this volume constitute the proceedings of the first Summer Institute, 2008. The essays making up the collection are focused discussions, and comprised of diverse writings on significant subjects relating to the Qur’an and the Sunnah, of common and intellectual interest as well as relevancy.
